Leadville 50 Mile Mountain Bike Race
Leadville, Colorado
The Leadville 50 mile mountain bike race is off and running today. Our best wishes go out to all the riders for a safe and successful 50 mile trail race. David Hersey is riding in the race today. He is the CEO for The Center for Leadership Studies and a very dear friend. We are hoping that he has a great time today and finishes strong. David holds the distinction of having won the Leadman award and also has quite a collection of silver belt buckles and other awards from the various events that he has participated in during the long running Leadville trail run and mountain bike race history.

The Leadville 50 mile course has some extremely difficult sections that at times require riders to hike a bike before continuing their race journey. The photo above is representative of the type of hike a bike areas you will encounter. The course takes the riders over some incredibly beautiful mountains and past the old gold and silver mines that dot the mountain hills around Leadville.

The Leadville course is extremely technical and not recommended for the novice rider. The photo above is representative of the type of terrain you can expect to encounter. In addition to the highly technical riding, you also must cope with the extreme altitudes that you will experience on the Leadville ride. The race starts at approximately 10,000 feet elevation and riders will climb to as high as approximately 12,000 a number of times going out 25 miles, then back over the same challenging terrain on the way back to the finish line.

Aid Station (14 Miles, 36 Miles)
You will not find a better organized mountain bike race anywhere. The folks in Leadville have this event down to a science. They have multiple aide stations strategically positioned throughout the race course. The volunteers who man these stations are absolutely wonderful people. They are so very helpful and always try to ensure that each rider recieves all the help and nourishment that is required to complete this epic journey. If you are an avid mountain biker, you really should consider this event. Leadville is truly one of the most beautiful places you will ever ride and race in.

Grand Teton Mountains
Grand Teton National Park
Jackson, Wyoming
If you are looking for an incredible vacation spot, may we suggest that you take a drive out to Wyoming and visit the Grand Teton National Park. This area is arguably one of the most beautful areas that we have ever seen. The park is located approximately 30 miles from the famous town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. When you visit the park, make sure that you plan a long enough visit to also tour Yellowstone National Park as well. The Yellowstone National Park borders the Grand Teton National Park to the north.
It is possible and very likely that you and your family will see Elk, Deer, Bear, Buffalo and Moose while in the park. Take a fishing pole as there are some trophy rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout in Jackson Lake and in the various rivers that flow through the area.
There are a number of places to stay while your are in the area. Hotels include the famous Jackson Lodge, located in the Grand Teton National Park. In Yellowstone, there are four primary Hotels to choose from. You can stay at the Canyons Lodge, The Old Faithful Lodge, The Mammouth Falls Lodge or the Yellowstone Lake Lodge. If you are more into the outdoors, there are plenty of incredible camping spots designed to handle tents and/or full sized campers.

If you are looking for a great weekend activity or even a short day trip from Atlanta, try horseback riding in the North Georgia Mountains. We love Trackrock Riding Stables, located about 14 miles from Helen, Georgia. They have horses to fit children through adults. The horses are generally well trained and usually quite dosile. We have been riding there for many years and have always found the rides to be really nice.

BP You Must Stop The Oil Leak! |
| Thursday, June 10, 2010 |
Flyline Search Marketing supports the protection of our environment and we are especially concerned today about the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf. Lets not go into why drilling wells in thousands of feet of water is hazardous, but, clearly the technology isn't readily available to cap a break at ground level when the ground is thousands of feet below the water line. The U.S. Government has submersibles that are fully capable of diving to those depths. Private industry does as well. What we apparently don't have is a submersible that can dive to those depths and deliver the capabililty to cap an oil pipe leak.
The world needs fuel to keep our transportation system moving and to keep our world economy healthy. Unfortunately, oil and natural gas are still heavily depended upon to solve that problem. Clearly, we must continue to move towards alternative solutions. I encourage you all to join in on the debate and to weigh in on your thoughts. Feel free to send us emails on this subject and we will post them. Given our blog is seen by people all over the world, your words and your message will be delivered. In addition, we encourage you to get involved with organizations like T. Boone Pickens and his movement to find alternative fuels and to reduce our dependance on foreign oil sources. To join the Pickens movement go to (http://www.pickensplan.com/act/).
A huge concern for all of us has to be hurricane season at this point. So far, there are no storms heading into the Gulf. A large storm in this region would obviously hamper any efforts to completely cap the spill. At last reports the folks at BP had at least cut the pipe at ground level and applied a partial cap. They are now siphoning an estimated 15,000 barrels of oil per day. They have begun using the ship that was originally sent to pump mud into the well to pull the oil to the surface via their siphoning pipes. At this point, scientists don't know precisely how much oil per day has been leaking into the Gulf. The true number may never be known, but, estimates are that as much as 25,000 barrels per day may have been escaping. BP seems to think they will eventually be able to siphon at a rate equal to the flow of the spill, thus at least mitigating the damage. Again, the siphon operation could be greatly jeopardized should a major storm blow into the area. In our opinion, there should be a complete cap applied to the well to ensure that the oil leak is completely stopped. Damage is occurring everyday that will last throughout our and our childrens lifetimes. If this spill reaches the Florida Keys, it will have a devastating impact our our coral reefs. This cannot happen! Stop the leak, cap the well so that a storm cannot disrupt the siphoning operation.
